my son calls Markham "Mirkwood"

twenty-eight years and a million words

After seeing some of the Tolkien movies, Ken's taken to calling Markham "Mirkwood". It's more fun - after all, which is more interesting, a stretch of car dealerships and a sea of detached housing in vinyl siding, or an impenetrable forest full of giant spiders, hostile elves, and Other Nightmares?

Mind you, the city we're now dubbing Mirkwood certainly has the better options for food!

rand()m quote

It's difficult in times like these: ideals, dreams and cherished hopes rise within us, only to be crushed by grim reality. It's a wonder I haven't abandoned all my ideals, they seem so absurd and impractical. Yet I cling to them because I still believe, in spite of everything, that people are truly good at heart.
